Shahbod Noori was born in Tehran, Iran. Throughout his life and career, he has demonstrated a strong commitment to entrepreneurship, journalism, community service, and civic engagement.
Following the political changes in Iran, Mr. Noori left his homeland and began a journey that took him through Pakistan and Austria before immigrating to the United States in 1987. During these early years, he worked in transportation, security, and community service positions while building the foundation for his future business and publishing career.
After settling in Los Angeles, California, Mr. Noori established several successful businesses and became actively involved in serving the growing Iranian-American community. His entrepreneurial spirit, combined with his passion for community engagement, led him to organize cultural events, charitable programs, and public gatherings that brought together thousands of Iranian-Americans throughout Southern California.
In 1991, Shahbod Noori launched The Original Bazaar Weekly, recognized as one of the first free Persian-language classified and advertising publications serving the Iranian community in Southern California. The publication quickly became a trusted resource for businesses, families, and community organizations.
Building on that success, in 1996 he founded Tehran Weekly Magazine, a Persian-language publication dedicated to news, public affairs, culture, business, health, education, arts, sports, and community issues. Over the past three decades, Tehran Weekly Magazine has become one of the longest-running Persian-language publications in the United States, serving readers throughout California, across the nation, and internationally.
In 2000, Tehran Magazine became one of the first Persian-language publications to offer a complete digital edition online, providing free access to readers worldwide through www.tehranmagazine.com.
Beyond publishing, Mr. Noori has played an active role in charitable and community initiatives. He founded the Persian Relief Center and has organized numerous fundraising events, cultural festivals, educational programs, and community expos. Through these efforts, he has helped individuals and families facing financial hardship, housing challenges, educational barriers, and other difficult circumstances.
Over the years, Mr. Noori has organized dozens of major community festivals, cultural celebrations, business expos, and charitable events attended by thousands of participants. His work has helped strengthen community connections and promote Iranian culture throughout California.
As a publisher and journalist, Shahbod Noori has interviewed, met, and worked with numerous public officials, elected leaders, community advocates, business leaders, entertainers, and influential figures from both the United States and the international Iranian community.
His contributions have been recognized through multiple honors and awards, including recognition from the City of Los Angeles, law enforcement agencies, community organizations, and media associations. He has also been recognized through various charitable and civic leadership awards and has been listed in professional recognition publications, including Who’s Who.
On October 31, 2017, Shahbod Noori was awarded the degree of Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) from American Premier University in recognition of his accomplishments in business, publishing, and community leadership.
In November 2025, he received additional recognition for his contributions to journalism and public affairs through his award-winning editorial work and continued commitment to serving the Iranian-American community.
Today, Shahbod Noori continues to serve as Publisher and Editor-in-Chief of Tehran Weekly Magazine while remaining actively involved in community service, journalism, cultural preservation, and public advocacy.
For more than three decades, his work has reflected a dedication to informing, educating, and connecting Persian-speaking communities throughout California, the United States, and around the world.
